Frequently Asked Questions

What is Guessberry?

A free-to-play game where you guess what happens next, from politics and current affairs to music, culture and entertainment.

Is Guessberry gambling or betting?

No. Guessberry is free to play. You don’t stake money or anything of value, there are no deposits or withdrawals, and you lose nothing when a guess is wrong. When you’re right, you earn Berries.

What are Berries?

Berries are Guessberry’s points. You earn them when a guess turns out right, and the surer you said you were, the more you earn. Berries are not money: they can’t be bought, sold, transferred or withdrawn, and have no cash value.

What's the difference between Berries and accuracy?

Accuracy is how often you’re right, and it decides your place on the leaderboard. Berries track your progress in the game. In short: accuracy is credibility, Berries are progression.

What are Shaky, Solid and Locked In?

When you guess, you say how sure you are:

  • Shaky: you’re making the call, but you’re not sure.
  • Solid: you feel pretty confident.
  • Locked In: you’re very sure you’re right.

It doesn’t change your guess. It changes how many Berries a right guess earns.

How does Guessberry work?

Every market asks one question with a set of possible answers. Choose your answer and how sure you are, and guess before the market closes. Once the result can be checked against the market’s published rules, the market is resolved and your result is recorded.

How does Guessberry decide who is right?

Every market states its source and its rule before it opens, under “How this resolves”. When the result is known, we decide the market by that source and rule. The answers and the rules don’t change once people have guessed.

Can I change my guess, or guess twice?

No. A guess is locked once you send it, and you get one guess per market. Choose carefully before you tap Guess.

When does a market close, and what happens then?

Every market shows its closing time, and after it no new guesses are taken. Closing isn’t the result: we wait until the outcome can be confirmed from the published source. Then right guesses are recorded, Berries are awarded and the leaderboard updates.

What if a market is cancelled or can't be resolved?

If the event is cancelled, changes fundamentally, or can’t be decided under the published rules, the market is voided. A voided market counts as neither right nor wrong, and no Berries are won on it.

How does the leaderboard work?

It ranks players by accuracy once they have at least 3 resolved guesses and a username. Players with the same accuracy on the same number of guesses share a place. Berries are shown alongside.

Do I need an account to guess?

No. You can guess as a guest and you earn Berries like anyone else, but your guesses live only on that device. After your second guess we invite you to save them with your email.

Why create an account?

An account lets you:

  • keep your guesses and Berries on any phone or computer;
  • track how you’re doing;
  • join the leaderboard under your username; and
  • get your results by email if you want them.
What happens if I guess wrong?

Nothing is taken away. You don’t earn Berries for that guess, and it counts towards your accuracy once the market is resolved.

Why do I need to confirm I'm 18 or older?

Guessberry is for adults. It’s a standard precaution for the kind of questions we ask, even though nothing here involves money.

Does Guessberry support a party, candidate or outcome?

No. Guessberry asks the question and sets the rules; you make the guess. A political or current-affairs market shows what people on Guessberry believe, not what Guessberry believes.

Why ask about politics and current affairs?

Because people are already talking about them, debating them and predicting them. Guessberry gives those predictions a place to be tested against what actually happens, alongside music, culture and entertainment.

Can I buy Berries or cash them out?

No. Berries are only earned by guessing right. They can’t be bought, have no cash value, and can’t be withdrawn, exchanged for money or given to another player.

What does “What the world believes” mean?

Guessberry is about the gap between what people think will happen and what actually happens. You make your guess, the crowd shows what everyone else believes, and then reality has the final say.

How do I add Guessberry to my home screen?

It then opens in one tap, full screen, like any other app.

How do I sign in on another phone?

Use Sign in with the email your guesses are saved to. We email you a code, or use your password if you created one in Account.

How do I delete my account or get a copy of my data?

Send us a message on Help and choose “My account or my data”. We delete accounts within 30 days and can send you a copy of what we hold. See the privacy policy.
