Resolves: When the IEC declares the final national results, usually within a week of 4 November.

Rules: Resolves on the ANC's percentage of valid votes nationwide in the 2026 municipal elections, as shown in the IEC's official national results summary for all ballot types combined, to one decimal place as the IEC publishes it. If the IEC publishes only separate ballot types, the proportional representation (PR) ballot is used. Under 35%: 34.9% or lower. 35% to 39.9%: 35.0% to 39.9%. 40% to 44.9%: 40.0% to 44.9%. 45% or more: 45.0% or higher.
If the source is down: If the IEC results site is unavailable, use the IEC's official national result as reported by at least two reputable South African news organisations.
If plans change: If the election is postponed, the market waits for the rescheduled vote. Later court challenges or reruns in individual wards do not change the national figure used. Void if no national result is declared by 31 March 2027.
